this is more of the american style. if you go to an asian restaurant in the US, that’s how they make it. because its catered to the americanized asians. if you go to southeast asia, the main ingredient is bla rah or badack. its a must! anyways, instead of papaya, try using green mangoes. its so yummy. also if you use papaya, you can also add tamarind in it.

Yes me too, I was suprise the mother didn’t put any shrimp paste, salted crab or msg in her papaya salad. Those are normally common ingredients. But her recipe seem easy and very simple. I’ll definately have to try making it the way she makes it without msg, shrimp paste and salted crab lol.

You can’t put shredded papayas before the palm sugar paste, that makes you unable to smash the sugar.
by the way, she put too much papayas in, and obviously cannot smash it well
